Climate change has caused Lyme disease to become an epidemic in Canada as ticks thrive in warm, humid weather. With expanding human populations and increased mobility of pets, the disease has emerged in areas previously considered low-risk. Protecting ourselves from ticks and advocating for policies to reduce carbon footprints can help prevent its spread. But, with tick-repelling garlic necklaces and dryer sheets, we might as well be ready for the Canadian version of Willy Wonka's chocolate factory.
